SteelCruisin Posted May 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Ok guys just thought this one up....i know that the cabana servers are only there from 9 - 5 or at least that is what I read, I also read that the your cabana is open to you before and after those hours....now my question, if we wanted to just grab some food from the lido and have a quiet dinner in our cabana would this be possible or even practical...cant wait to sail HAL for the 1st time in Nov. kelleherdl Posted May 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2017 The cabana attendants are regular beverage servers so they need to report to their regular positions like dining room, bars or entertainment venues promptly at cabana close. They are also required to have the cabanas ship-shape before leaving. There also might be a ship function in the cabanas that evening. Not to snipe, but I would not feel right 'using' the area after it has been prepared for the next day. Dennis
tgeonetta Posted May 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Yes, you can do this. We did this very often on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We had booked the family cabana for the entire cruise. Sent from my iPad using Forums
tgeonetta Posted May 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2017 We also did early breakfast there as well. The winds weren't as bad in the morning as they were at night at dinner. Sent from my iPad using Forums
SteelCruisin Posted May 6, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Thanks for the replies...we would only use our Cabana, not the cabana club area , and we would clean up after ourselves. Maybe bring one of those electric candles and have a romantic dinner. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320A using Forums mobile app
alwaysfrantic Posted May 6, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Some nights they had something going on up there. It isn't closed to the public in the evenings either, if I remember correctly. Though that wouldn't matter for a dinner.
Rare POA1 Posted May 6, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2017 You may want to consider packing a tray to carry your food. Otherwise, you'll have a lot to juggle.
OVgirl Posted May 6, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 6, 2017 I would say that YMMV. When we had the cabanas on Nieuw Amsterdam a few years back, we tried to sit up there and have a glass of wine, but were told to leave by security. There was no other function going on, but I guess that area isn't monitored enough to be a safe area for passengers. But again, your mileage may vary. Not everything is the same on one ship to the next or even on each cruise.
