caribill Posted June 4, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 4, 2017 The last time I was allocated Extra Early Traditional Dining it was in a Traditional Main Dining Room but there was no second seating following us. When we finished the next diners were Anytime Diners and it seemed to work well. Have they changed this system to roping off an area? It seems a bit unsatisfactory. Posted June 4, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 4, 2017 We had a similar situation on Crown Princess and to be honest it was a shambles, we had booked second sitting Traditional dining and were put in the Anytime dining MDR, every evening we had to walk past the queue of passengers waiting to be seated to get to the restaurant which was embarrassing and very uncomfortable! we seemed to constantly be apologising and explaining why were by passing the queue and were challenged several times by the crew for 'queue jumping' ! despite complaining to the restaurant manager this continued and we ended up eating most of our meals in the buffet ! But since a lot of folks want traditional they stick them in the Anytime dining early seating (5:30). This eats half the dining room. Then they reserve about a third of the remainder for Club Class, plus take two-tops away from Anytime after the first people eat, further reducing the size of Anytime. Four lines going in - Traditional, Anytime, Anytime/reservations, Club Class. On our two cruises the Anytime lines were 100 deep when the dining room opened. Anytime people were complaining about getting in line at 5:30, getting beepers and not getting called until 9:30. It was slightly easier to get reservations for two - the trick was to ask for a specific table (usually after 8:05 all the early spots are gone). People from elevators were crowding into the anytime line. Major zoo for the mostly experienced Princess passengers. Hundreds of very unhappy customers. To make matters worse, a guy in front of us in the reservation line had fixed seating dining and was in a suite but wanted to eat with other people that night. So he was taking up space in early fixed seating, a full evening reserved seating for Club Class, and space in Anytime. Splitting the dining room with Traditional has always caused crowding, but adding Club Class broke the system completely. Club Class really causes problems because the seats are reserved for whoever might show up - prior to 7 we never saw that area more than half full (around 50 seats vacant) and they were still removing Anytime seats for potential Club Class seating. That's pretty much what I expected although some people will now chime in to say that everything was just wonderful & there was never any wait. They fail to mention that they were Club Class. ;) Princess has created a monster with this Club Class & unless they find a way to make it work better in the near future many people will be driven away like yourself.
