Fresh off the Oasis...any questions?

Recommended Posts

We just returned from the Eastern Oasis cruise. Stops were Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maartin. We were mid ship on deck 10 with a balcony. Quick observations:

Drink package was fabulous!

We did the Wines of the World and it was a complete waste of money. We were not happy at all. We had the drink package and paid $30 in advance. Everyone at our table paid $10 and were not on the drink package. The tasting consisted of 5 small portions of wine...about 2 sips and a cheese plate of 5 pieces of cheese to be shared with 2 people. The ad said "food pairings", this was false.

We did the Blue Lagoon Sea Lion swim in Nassau and loved it.

We did a scenic drive and natural beach in St. Thomas/ The ride was an adventure in itself.

We did Great Bay Beach in St. Maartin on our own, right off the ship by water taxi and this was our favorite day.

We liked Chops but LOVED Giovanni's. Their filet was far superior to Chops.

The water show and ice shows were amazing. CATS was cancelled for our show time.

The Champagne Bar was my favorite bar. My husband preferred Globe and Atlas.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

We're leaning towards Great Bay ourselves. Did you rent chairs from a particular location and how far down the beach did you go? Thanks.

Yes, we got 2 chairs, umbrella, wifi and bathrooms for $20. They are really aggressive. We weren't very far down. I would recommend walking further down to Honky Tonk. They were giving free drinks with their chairs and the water trampoline was right there.

Glad you had a wonderful time, what deck and cabin did you have, did you find the cabin to be cool especially during the night?

We were in 10606. The first day/night was horribly hot. After that it was nice and cool in the room. Just turn to farthest cool setting as soon as you walk in the door. Also, it's very important to pay attention to the door handle on your balcony. It has to be down to keep the AC on. We messed up the first day and it took until the second day to cool the room down.

We were on the same cruise. Windjammer was very crowded but food was very good especially dinner. Food in Main dining room was mediocre. We had a great breakfast and lunch in the Solarium every day. Park cafe was also very good.

We just did an Allure trip a few weeks ago. We didn't go to the Windjammer much but when we did it was way more crowded than on previous cruises. I think the unintended consequence of the room service fee is more Windjammer traffic.

My husband and I sailed on the Oasis about 3 years ago and my daughter and her family will be going with us as we return to the Oasis in 2018. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at Johnny Rockets. Do you know if they still serve breakfast there?

Breakfast is still served and free at JR on Oasis class ships.

The casino was pretty smoky. I always felt uncomfortable going to eat after going through the casino because I felt like my clothes smelled.

Windjammer was surprisingly good. We always found a table. Lots of choices. The dining room was underwhelming. Windjammer was actually better.

Did you notice if the cereal at the Windjammer was boxed? Any chance they had Rice Krispies?

Yes, the cereal was boxed and yes they had Rice Krispies. I had to ask the same before the trip about Cheerios for my daughter!

Thank you! I have an extremely restricted diet because of a medical condition and Rice Krispies are one of the few breakfast foods I can eat.
