terri1020 Posted June 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2017 I know that this has been talked about a lot, but we only want to swim with the stingrays and not take a tour of the turtle farm and so on. Going the end of February, 2018. Recommendations welcome.

vamartha Posted June 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Moby Dick. We've gone with them twice now. Excellent tour. https://www.mobydicktours.com/stingray-city/grand-cayman/ Your owner (one half owner) and skipper for the day! He's also a hands on guide in the water! (It was a pretty windy, choppy day, not the norm, in our experience) Here is what our tour group looked like. Not crowded, just about the right amount of people! This is what I like so much about private excursions! And here is what it looked like on the Carnival excursions. The tour operators herd them on like cattle and most of them don't bring food for the stingrays. Do yourself a favor and book an independent tour! You won't regret it! You will get some excellent recommendations in this thread for good reliable tour operators. The second picture down is a much calmer day. And the water is simply stunning! :D

Brad1972 Posted June 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Captain Marvins has a Stingray and Snorkel one that only takes half the day. Last time we did the Stingray and Snorkel one then when we got back to the dock we got on a different bus that took us to Hell and then the turtle farm. Bus or van from Captain Marvins stays outside while you get a guided tour of the turtle farm. Our second trip next April we're just going to do the Stingray and Snorkel ride and then do some shopping back Inc town by the cruise port. Turtle farm was cool for about 10 minutes then yea ok I'm done, Hell also was cool to see just so you can say you've been to Hell and back but it's not worth a second visit. masim17 Posted June 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2017 We took a tour with Native Way Watersports. They were great. We actually booked a private tour as we were 16 people, and they were much more reasonable than any other company, but they also offer the same tour not private. They go to sting ray city, snorkeling and to the starfish site. The staff was extremely helpful and we loved it and would use them again in a heartbeat. ABQrobin Posted June 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2017 There are tours that take you to spend an hour with the stingrays(plus it takes a half hour each way on a boat to get to the sandbar) then drop off on a beach for a few hours afterwards. Lots of options that don't do the turtle farm.
