We just got some for ourselves. Question for you - when we use them and there is a balance, will it stay on our account to be used for gratuities at the end of the cruise?

No, it will only charge you what is owed for your booking and you will need to keep track of the balance and take the card with you when you cruise to apply to your account. I'm not sure if you can add gratuities to your booking prior to your cruise if you didn't already but give Carnival a call if you want to add it and there isn't a way online. Or you can spend the balance on pre-purchased items on their website....

Great question!

We used the cift cards to pay for our Cheers program. With the leftover $50 (and another $100 card), we bought Cruise Cash.

  • Cruise Cash ($25, $50, $75 and $100) – Can be used for any expenses on the guest's Sail and Sign account. This includes staff gratuities.

We intend to use it for Chef's Table!

It IS use it or lose it once you convert those gift cards to cruise cash, however. We just wanted to have as close as possible to *everything* settled before we step on board.

Couldn't you buy casino chips and then just cash them in?

Also, can you use more than one gift card per booking?

I figure we probably could, but I don't want to carry anything other than credentials :)

We used a total of 6 $100 cards to do our stuff.

Why go through the extra step of changing gift cards to cruise cash? Cruise cash is non-refundable, use it or lose it. If you put a gift card on your S&S account and you have money left over that you don't cash out, Carnival will send you a check.

If you add your gift cards to your S&S account when you get onboard - that money will be applied to the gratuties won't it? I'm confused now.

Yes, if you do that (add the gift card value to your on-board account upon boarding the ship) it effectively becomes OBC which is used for anything purchased on-board including gratuities (assuming you did not pre-pay gratuities with final payment).

Oh, we'll definitely use it :)

Really, it's just one thing more that we don't have to remember to bring. I'd rather just click a few buttons now than leave them sitting on the nightstand at home!
