the mistral wind Posted June 15, 2017 #76 Share Posted June 15, 2017 LOL! My brother in law, who has a tendency to try to surround himself with upper crust, intellectual types even though he is a bit of a redneck at heart, tried a luxury cruise a couple of years ago after having gone on his first cruise on HAL. Upon his return he complained about how uppity the people that he met on the cruise were. Apparently even he was put off by the all the constant "I succeeded at this, I accomplished this, I am an important person", that seemed to infiltrate every conversation, especially when several people were competing to be the center of attention in a conversation. That he found these people a bit boring was a complete surprise since these are the types of people he typically invites to his parties. :D Truly successful and important people don't usually feel they have to impress anyone. It usually the want to be's that are this way in my experience.

GUT2407 Posted June 15, 2017 #79 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Its funny that you would say that. I don't own a boat but have relatives and friends that do. When i told them how much i paid for one of my 3 night cruise to bahamas they said they would pay that just for fuel . lol;) Must be a fair sized boat. But yep it can cost more to fuel a decent size cruiser than book a cruise.

UPNYGuy Posted June 15, 2017 #81 Share Posted June 15, 2017 We are on the Anthem right now and my husband said he'd gladly pay for a "don't harass me package" which includes a bracelet so no one approaches him on board to try to sell him anything. Sent from my iPad using Forums This is the reason why our next cruise is on Oceania. More inclusions and less hassles (no ship photographers for example) Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare MicCanberra Posted June 15, 2017 #82 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Perhaps you can ask some friends to take pictures of you when you board, have dinner, go past the atrium, go ashore, walk to the theatre, go to the casino, etc. So at least you will have those mementos of your cruise. :p
iancal Posted June 15, 2017 #83 Share Posted June 15, 2017 We have an aversion to cruise line packages. In our experience they are often bundled in with a cruise fare to give a false appearance/impression of a special sale. Our preference is to buy the cabin. Period. Then pay as we go for all other items.
