Faircliff Posted June 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We are taking a 14 day Canada New England cruise on HAL 's Maasdam round trip from Montreal in August 2017. I suspect some people will only be taking it for the seven day option, and in that case is there any special information we should know about Boston? Is everyone expected to be off the ship for a certain length of time? And, is disembarking, and then returning to the ship, chaos for those on the 14 day option? veryseasonedtraveler Posted June 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We just did the 14 day option. The ship issues a transit card for those staying on. You can either stay on the ship or treat Boston as another port. We got off and took Uber to the JFK Library and Museum. Was really a great idea. They have a special exhibit honoring his 100th year. The HOHO bus is great and stops at most historical sights in Boston. We enjoyed eating in the Northend. You will enjoy both cruises. They are vastly different. Canada had free admission this year to their parks as well as Annie of Green Gables. We didn't have to repeat the drill[emoji1]

Just wanted to make sure we'll have time in Boston because we only see it once. Planning on the HOHO bus ( booking directly with the company online probably ). When you return to the ship do you have to join the crowds boarding for the first time? BTW... How many formal nights on the 14 Day cruise? Krazy Kruizers Posted June 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2017 You will go through immigration in Bar Harbor. In Boston -- just show your In Transit pass as you go through security and head to the line getting on the ship. It may or may not be long depending on when you are done touring Boston. Junebug Jeffery Posted June 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2017 Another fun thing to do is walk the Freedom Trail in Boston. We took a cab to Bunker Hill then followed the trail and walked back to the ship.
GradUT Posted June 24, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2017 The Freedom Trail Foundation has a smartphone app for $4.99 which gives you a guided tour of the the Freedom Trail. We did this a couple years ago (when it was a MP3 download instead of an app) and it was excellent! Tell the 'line monitors' you are in transit and they will direct you to the much shorter entrance to security. After security you just reboard the ship. Faircliff Posted June 27, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted June 27, 2017 There are 4 since this is really two 7-day cruises. Thanks. We like the novelty, but don't get too dressed up and I tend to think 4 will be too many for us.
