bookbabe Posted June 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2017 Google maps says it's about a half hour walk (1.6 miles) from the Royal Watler terminal, which would be the furthest of the three terminals. Whether that's 'walkable' is really your call. You might have a tough time getting a taxi to take you there, since they'd probably prefer more profitable runs. And you'd need to arrange a pickup time for the way back as no taxis would be in the vicinity waiting for fares.
Capt_BJ Posted June 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2017 Sunset House would be a 'short' walk back towards town and the place {My Bar} I ALWAYS would stop for a libation on the way back they will call you a taxi from there if you ask .... odds are there will be driver or two hanging out right there .... http://www.whatshot.ky/2014/09/sunset-house-my-bar-a-legendary-local-favorite/

bookbabe Posted June 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2017 thank you just looking for a place to snorkle within walking distance from pier Just to the right of where you get off the tenders will be Paradise Restaurant and Eden Rock. Excellent snorkelling for experienced people (not great for beginners).

Capt_BJ Posted July 6, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Why do you say this is for experienced people? What's the location like? it is relatively deep water for snorkeling ... not a place where you can stand up to catch your breath etc. it is a popular SCUBA site to give an idea of depths. 40 feet average except on top of the coral formations ... and standing on the coral is a HUGE no no. Also the swim out is 150 yards per the dive shop's own description http://www.edenrockdive.com/shore.html
bookbabe Posted July 6, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Why do you say this is for experienced people? What's the location like? Thanks in advance! Jennifer As Capt_BJ said, it's deep, with nowhere to rest once you're out there, and there can be strong currents on occasion, and subjectively the swim back is much longer than the swim out to the reef. DH has towed exhausted tourists back to shore on more than one visit there.

brightbluesea21 Posted September 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 30, 2017 We did the walk to Smith's Cove last year and stopped at Sunset House on the way, and on the way back. It broke up the walk and the views from Sunset House were great! Smith's Cove was really nice--away from the crowds but not isolated. We sat on our towels under some shade trees and snorkeled from the beach. I got some great photos there. There were about 25-30 people there that day. We debated on calling a taxi on the way back at Sunset House but decided to just walk back. That said, we love to walk so the distance was within reason.
