deec Posted July 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2017 We will be in Papette on a WC on Viking in January. The included tour is walking tour of Papette. Wondering what to do with the rest of our day (until 6pm)? I read that there is no real close snorkeling DIY. Ship has an excursion via jeep to "unspoiled wilderness" four for $109....any private tour guides that you would recommend?

Waterfalls, swimming ponds ... just beautiful. Another idea would be to rent a car and go visit the landmarks and museums. Papeete is a busy city and other than the Le Marche, the cathedral and the waterfront in the evening is just a busy city. To see the real beauty of a Tahiti you need to get outside Papeete. There are 2 rental places within walking distance of the cruise ships. Hertz and Avis.
janecambridge Posted July 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2017 (edited) I'm thinking of a car rental.can we leave luggage somewhere so we don't have to hire a large vehicle that includes a big boot/trunk? The Avis rentacar you mention,is that walking distance from cruise terminal? Edited July 10, 2017 by janecambridge

As I mention, "There are 2 rental places within walking distance of the cruise ships. Hertz and Avis." You would need to check with them about types of cars/vans. 5HappyCampers Posted September 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2017 The market is a great way to spend some time getting souvenirs. It is the place to grab local food and those beautiful flower arraignments for your cruise cabin!
