It is crowded, but it is a neat experience and we thought it was fun!

Bring an old bathing suit.

It was a lot of fun. You will smell terrible until you get a shower and make sure to bring an old swimsuit.

We did this as part of an island tour done by Serenity Tours and had a ball. It was stinky (sulfurous) and messy, but left us with super-smooth skin. Our guide was with us the entire time and helped us through the experience, watched our stuff, and took pictures for us. Afterwards, we went to the waterfall and got very well rinsed off, though the water there is cold, in contrast to the warm, silty water at the mud baths site.

Can you get to the area by boat? I thought the car ride there was pretty darned scary.

You cannot access this by boat. And yes the travel there was by narrow winding road.....just look at it as part of the adventure....lol

we enjoyed it - did it as part of a private tour with Real St. Lucia Tours - they customize the tour to whatever you want to do, just the four of us in the van with beer and soda.

Frankly, I think any travel around St. Lucia by car is pretty scary. Roads are narrow and winding everywhere once you leave the town area. I saw a picture of a couple at the mud baths just this week on another website that has an RCCL group. Looked like fun. Their tour guide had "painted" them with the mud.

We took a speed boat that dropped us at Souffrie (sp?), then got into mini buses to the mud baths and volcano. It was maybe a 10 minute drive, and not scary at all. We were one of the first groups there. Much faster by speed boat. We used Joy's Adventure Excursions.

Herod's Land & Sea... Land to Soufriere

 

 

Guardrails... compared to driving in many European cities, especially the Amalfi Coast, the roads here are a piece of cake.

15min boat trip to Jalousie Beach in between the Pitons... rent snorkel gear, catamaran, etc or just chill

About 50min boat ride back. Stops at a couple of places for a minute or two.... you don't get off. Rum punch galore!!! ;p
