MPDust Posted November 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2005 We booked our 12/10 cruise about 10 months ago for $370/pp (Interior room). I checked the price 2 weeks ago and it went down $200 but it was for an Interior Guarantee. My wife and I discussed it and decided to roll the dice and take the $200 and re-book with the guarantee. When we checked our reservation last night to print our set sail pass we found that we had been upgraded to a large oceanview room in the middle of the ship, 2 decks higher than where we were previously booked! We hope the luck runs over to the casino. Later. (P.S. - I read on an earlier post that the weather in December in Cozumel and Costa Maya is usually windy and rainy. Is this true? I thought it was supposed to be nice during this time)
steve20832 Posted November 29, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2005 The same thing happened to my parents a couple years ago. They booked an inside guarantee and ended up with a balcony.
liasophia Posted November 29, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Congratulations!!! That's enough to make your entire month, huh!:D Are you sailing on the Splendour by chance? We'll be on that cruise and I feel like we hit the jackpot, too, with the rate we got for a balcony. We usually would never be able to book a balcony, but this time we were and I'm sooooo exited. You got an AMAZING deal! That has to feel GREAT!!! Have a great day!

LetsGoCruisN Posted November 29, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2005 I didn't know RCI sold cruises that cheap...ever! Are the rates usually that much cheaper in December? I thought Christmas cruises were fairly popular (and expensive)?
jkrislc Posted November 29, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2005 I didn't know RCI sold cruises that cheap...ever! Are the rates usually that much cheaper in December? I thought Christmas cruises were fairly popular (and expensive)? They do when it gets close to the sailing. The first cruise I took my mom on was less than $200 for a three day on the Monarch, and about the same just before Christmas with a friend, and that was before the coupon was applied. I think a lot of people don't schedule vacations then because they will be too busy shopping, etc. Plus kids are in school. Congrats to the OP! The Millers Posted November 29, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Do you think that is because of the recent huricane devastation? I know Cancun was hit pretty hard but I thought Cozumel was too. Am I wrong? I would have thought that they would have changed their itinerary instead of discounting. liasophia Posted November 29, 2005 #10 Share Posted November 29, 2005 This cruise has had amazing prices from the beginning! For some reason that one week in Dec. is just really cheap. The weeks before and after are around $200 more pp in each category. We ended up with an aft balcony for $529pp for a 5 night cruise! CRAZY! The inside and OV rates were even better. Coz was hit pretty hard, but the excursion are still running and there are already several beaches that have reopened. It's exciting! maye some of you will want to join us!:D Have a great day everyone!
MPDust Posted November 29, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Sorry- Let me clear this up. We were refunded $200 total not per person. Still a great deal if you ask me.
debandbill Posted November 29, 2005 #12 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Cruised to both Coz and CM last year (Rhapsody 12/3 - 12/10) and had wonderful warm to hot weather. The day at CM (Majahual) was just incredible...a true Corona commercial...blue skys...warm shallow beach... grass huts...beer,chips and salsa. We usually cruise this time of year and have always had good weather in the Gulf and Caribbean. This year has seen really wacky weather so anything is possible but I think you will be fine! RN7997 Posted November 29, 2005 #13 Share Posted November 29, 2005 We are booked for an interior room on AOS for April 2, 2006. What is an inside "guarantee"??? One more question. I am confused about how you find out that RCCL prices go down?? Are you checking their websites or sites like travelocity etc??
travelgirl913 Posted November 29, 2005 #14 Share Posted November 29, 2005 If you book with a travel agent they can check weekly for you. That is what I do for my clients.
