Viking Disembarkation

Can "independent" passengers on a Europe Viking cruise exit the ship whenever they want upon arrival at the disembarkation port?

Yes. Our travel wasn't until late in the afternoon and we didn't need to be at the train station until mid-afternoon. We were able to stay on the ship until 2:00 p.m. Viking kept our luggage on the ship and also arranged the taxi to pick us up. We had lunch on the ship and hung out in the lounge until it was time to leave. You definitely can't do that on an ocean liner.

On our first trip we stayed until after 4pm. Enjoyed breakfast and lunch and some sightseeing of stuff near dock.

We were like the previous poster and stayed onboard until after lunch and until we had confirmed our hotel room was available for us. When we spoke with the concierge to ask if we could stay aboard, she said "of course, you can stay as long as you want since we aren't departing until tomorrow - have dinner with us." We elected to not take her up on that generous of an offer but did enjoy a quiet lunch and helped greet the early arrivers for the next cruise.

We arrived in Amsterdam on Viking Eir and proceeded on a DIY walkabout (we could have joined the Viking guided one) .

 

Stocked up with cheese...

 

 

and returned for a late lunch and just relaxed till our Viking transfer to the airport.

 

Another reason why I enjoy Viking so much.
