ruecatt Posted July 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Do I need a transit visa in Stockholm if I am only changing planes? I will be traveling from Copenhagen and be heading home to the US.
Earl Rosebery Posted July 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2017 No, you do not need a visa for any Shengen country including Sweden.

Earl Rosebery Posted July 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2017 It seems somewhat strange to me that tourists would ask this question on a forum instead of going to,the Swedish gov. Website or the US state dep't website where the answer should be more official.
hallasm Posted July 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) It seems somewhat strange to me that tourists would ask this question on a forum instead of going to,the Swedish gov. Website or the US state dep't website where the answer should be more official. The answer depends on citizenship - and answers often based on assumptions. OP might need a Schengen Visa, and will not require additional visa for a stop over in Sweden, however Stockholm will be the entry into Schengen. Sometimes it can be valid to ask Visa questions in this forum when cruising and visiting multiple ports- not alway easy to get correct information from the gov. web. Example is when a person requires a Schengen Visa and does go for a St. Petersburg cruise. Then you will need a multiple entry Schengen Visa since your are leaving Schengen and going back again. Several people has missed that information and only has a single entry Schengen Visa. They then have to leave the cruise ship in the last port before St. Petersburg an find their way (for own Similar might be the case for Asian sailings, and might cause denied boarding. John Bull Posted July 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2017 If you are a US citizen you don't need a visa to visit any Schengen country. Both Sweden & Denmark are Schengen countries https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/schengen-visa-countries-list/ Those who do require a Schengen visa can travel freely between Schengen countries on a single-entry visa. As hallasm has mentioned, a multiple-entry visa is only needed if you leave the Schengen area and return to it. A port-of-call visit to St Petersburg is an example, and yes, the few who screw up by getting a single-entry visa have to miss St Petersburg by leaving the ship at the previous port-of-call and taking a ferry or flight direct to the next port-of-call and re-boarding the ship there.:( JB :)
