Very easy Cheers?

Is it a 10 minute wait only on booze? For example my husband likes to have a Black Russian with his dinner and a diet soft drink. Can you order two things at once it just can't be booze and booze? Thanks!

Another question so then the only way to tip a bartender if you have Cheers is with cash? Correct

You still get a paper receipt to sign, it is just for $0.00. you can add a tip to that if you like on the tip line, or pay cash, or as I mostly do, tip with casino chips, since I tend to end up getting drinks mostly at the craps table.

If you are someone that drinks 5-6 drinks a day or 6-7 beers, then you will break even. With the addition of sodas, bottled waters, energy drinks, specialty coffees, etc... it is well worth it.

It was the best addition we made to our last cruise. No worries the entire cruise.

Just my opinion, of course.

I find that those who benefit from Cheers are steady drinkers.

This CC article may help you decide:

https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=2023

I rarely drink here at home because I don't drink in the house and I won't drink and drive when I go out to dinner.

I do enjoy cocktails and wine when I'm cruising because I don't have any of the above mentioned concerns. Even when I drink on the ship it's rarely more than one every couple of hours.

I don't consider that really steady drinking, but my bar tab is less if I purchase cheers because I will have more than 6 or so alcoholic beverages and now that I can purchase specialty coffee, milkshakes and sodas.

tipping with casino chips is just plain rude. Who said employees are allowed in the casino.

As to 2 drinks, I always like a water back with any drink, with the old Cheers I drank tap water, with the new Cheers I get a bottle of water back, never had a problem.

Wait time is 5 minutes between any beverage ordered, but as other have said the enforcement varies. I think no one will say they were able to order multiple alcoholic beverages at the same time, but many (myself included) have been able to order a alcoholic drink with a bottle of water as well.

Tipping in chips at the casino is not rude. They can and do cash them in.

Not sure what you have been told, but i am sure they cash them in.

As others said, 5 minutes between drinks.

Take care of the bartenders and they take care of you.

We go to the same bartenders every time and usually they jot down our folio number and let us order two drinks at a time, ringing up the other one after the 5 minutes is up.

What a great idea! Can I ask about the two drinks, I don't want to say the wrong thing was it for yourself or .... thanks

Have you ever played casino tables? The servers in the casino completely EXPECT to be tipped in sign and sail, in cash and chips. On ships the casino servers are often compensated differently than the rest of the crew through tip pools. Same in casinos all over but not always. If a player is winning the tips that go to both the server and the house as well as bets placed FOR the house piggy backing on your own is VERY appreciated and can be lucrative for them.

You just go to the same bartender(s) and build the relationship. Take care of them. I always just say something like "I'm going to go ahead and order two drinks now if you wanna make them both and I'll wait the 5 minutes.." That's usually when they get the hint and take care of you.

I think this is key. Don't go in with an attitude that you are ENTITLED to order and receive two beverages at once. Because you aren't. It's very easy for a bartender to say, "those are the rules." What always seemed to work for me was something along the lines of "Can I get my drink now and come back for the water after the 5 minutes are up?" Not one time did I have to come back. This also worked with the coffee bar, where I would get a coffee drink and bottle of water in the morning.

From what I have been told (but could be misinformed), the computer system will not let the bartender ring up two beverages (non-alcoholic or not) at the same time on one Cheers package. As noted by a poster above, the bartender will write down your folio number and ring it up later. So, be mindful of the effort the bartender is putting into making it more convenient for you.

So true and great idea and it also might be easier if I order two of the same drink!

doubt you will get 2 of the same drink even with this technique. if you get an alcoholic beverage and water they think your drinking both sorta at the same time. they are not thinking you are drinking 2 pina coladas at the same time and will most likely ask you to wait . It will be assumed that if you are asking for 2 drinks at the same time you are sharing. there really wouldnt be another reason that couldnt wait 5 minutes

How can they do that (write the folio number down and ring it after 5 mins) if you have to sign the receipt?

There's been numerous times I've had the bartender not even take my card when I order a soda or water. All they care about is keeping track of the # of alcoholic drinks.

We got to know the bartender on our last cruise so well he would just keep a stack of receipts for me to sign before the end of the night. He knew our folio number - kept track and just kept a stack for me. There were a number of us at the Alchemy every night signing 20 or more receipts from throughout the day.

Get to know them and their service and then they will do everything they can to accommodate you.

Ours would even have a drink prepared for us before dinner if he was busy - never even had to ask!
