LuvBotswana Posted August 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Anyone with experience with internet speed on this particular ship and route? I may want to remote in to my desktop to do some work, but if it's too slow then I may not bothering purchasing the package. Is there a particular time of day (e.g. 3am) during which the speed is fast enough to get something accomplished? Thanks in advance.
phoenix_dream Posted August 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Since they have updated their internet the speed is usually acceptable, but not as fast as you will find at home. The best time to go on the internet is when you are in a popular port, as most folks will be off exploring. The worst time is on sea days, particularly mid-day when lots of people are also online. This. Alaska can be tricky at certain ports due to the topography.
PDXgranny Posted August 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Had very little problem last week on Solstice Alaska cruise. Not as fast as home, but it was acceptable. Hard to stay on during heavy usage times -
LuvBotswana Posted August 2, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted August 2, 2017 Thanks for the responses. Is the price the same or higher when signing up on board vs. purchasing online?
LuvBotswana Posted August 3, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Never mind. Just got off the phone with Celebrity. Prices go up if purchased onboard - $249 vs. $224.
jsea Posted August 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2017 Just off Solstice today and the internet speed was the best I've ever had on a cruise ship. As has been said ad nauseam, however, it isn't as fast as LTE or most home networks.
fabsco Posted August 6, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Is there wifi throughout the ship? If not, any cabins that have good reception?

lb0103 Posted August 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 7, 2017 We were on the Millie 2 months ago north bound to Seward. We could get on most of the time except in Skagway, both sailing into and out of as well as in port, it is a sheltered area. They had a notice posted in the ilounge saying that also. Rare seagunthera Posted May 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 30, 2018 There is currently a 10% discount. Anyone know if it gets better than this or should I jump on the 10 before it disappears (and if so, how long do you think I have)? Thanks!
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 30, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 30, 2018 The discounts come and go , but not on a schedule. No one here really knows how long this one might last.

But do they get better than this, say 20%? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
rjwex Posted May 31, 2018 #14 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Depending on your cc level, you can get discounts that way. Any time you are working remotely, better to download files, do the work, then upload. I took a few trips on celebrity while doing school on-line. The enhanced wi-fi made cruising possible, as I had assignment deadlines. Even managed group work on-line.
mick70 Posted June 1, 2018 #15 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Also just off the Solstice today and found the wi-fi great. Streamed both of the Stanley cup games.
Umbarger Posted June 1, 2018 #16 Share Posted June 1, 2018 I just got off the Solstice from Hawaii to vancouver. We got unlimited Internet and it was excellent. Best Internet I've ever had on any ship.
TeeRick Posted June 2, 2018 #17 Share Posted June 2, 2018 Recently on Solstice in Aus and NZ. The internet in our cabin near mid-ship was very good most of the time. Peak times on At Sea days when there were a lot of users was sometimes a bit slow.
Purifyer Posted June 2, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 2, 2018 So, having read about $99 deals for 250 minutes of internet is not correct? Just one price?
