Just a quick question. Looking at the itinerary this sailing (15 day - 14 night) is really the same as a back to back eastern and western with a return to Miami in the middle on day 8. Will this require us to go back through the boarding process on day 8 or would we just remain on ship (or take an excursion) that day. Also, what will likely be open on the ship on day 8 as they prepare for the new people boarding for the remaining 8 day - 7 nights? I hope this makes sense :)

Msc will escort you thru immigration and right back on ahead on the new people.

Thank you. Do you know If anything on the ship is typically open that day or is everything closed until late morning when they begin to board? We will be in the yacht club- is the dining, etc open?

We've just completed a B2B with a return to Miami. Everything in YC was open and available in the morning, everyone staying onboard had to meet at 10am in a designated location. Once all of the departing passenger had left the ship we were escorted through immigration and then back on to the ship, around 11.30am. The embarking passenger have started arriving by this point and everything is open onboard.

If you take an excursion this process is completed as part of your excursion.

Do you know what happens if you just wanted to go spend the day sight seeing Miami under your own steam CruisingFox27 ...do you have to wait till 10 before you can leave?

The opposite, you are free to go ashore and do your own thing, you have to disembark by 10am at the latest. All of the options are listed, with details of what you need to do & when on the daily planner the day before.

This is great info, CF. Our 31 night cruise on Divina will probably be treated similarly (as a B2B) and I was wondering about the procedure when the ship returns to Miami after the first 11 night leg. I've made a note to watch for the daily planner info as we'd like to take the opportunity to do some shopping when the ship is in port. I'll have to do some homework now about where the best outlet malls are and their proximity to the port.

I would presume so Bea. The B2B cruisers and the 14 night cruisers had to follow the same process. All of the people disembarking and those going ashore, excursions or alone had to be away by 10 am. Once they'd all gone those of us that wished to remain on board were taken through immigration. That part was actually reasonably quick, the delay was waiting for everyone to get off. Fairly sure if you're going ashore alone you could be off bright and early after docking.

Thanks, CF!

We'd have to do the immigration on our return to the ship if we do go ashore. We may just stay onboard and get thru' it that way. I don't fancy facing it after a day's shopping. I wonder if we could go ashore after doing immigration? We don't really need to be off the ship too early.

I guess so, although it is a guess as it wasn't as scenario we looked into. Passengers embarking in Miami can disembark again once they've received their cruise cards. Although we had nothing to indicate we'd cleared immigration, cursuary glance at our passports, farcical really. So it would raise the question of would you have to do immigration again?

Again, thanks CF, for the info.

I suppose it's just a formality, really, as the main immigration process is done when heading out to the States (Dublin pre-clearance) before embarking on the ship so the immigration officials will be aware that you have already gone through the process if you've already boarded the ship a few days beforehand in Miami.
