montelco Posted August 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Hi, Where would be the best place in the city to meet up with friends once we disembark? How would we get there from the pier ( We are arriving on the Pacific Princess on the 13th September)? Is it in walking distance ? Would we need Danish Kroner to use a taxi if need be? We are hoping to do a walk off and do Copenhagen on our own with our friends once we meet up with them. Any advice most welcome. Thanks.
ljandgb Posted August 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Read through Danish Viking's Copenhagen thread. There's lots of good info there. Bottom line the ship's general dock pretty far out of town. You can take a bus or a taxi to the center of town. Our taxi driver took CC's. An easy meeting place would be the Town Hall square. It's across from Tivoli and is at the end of the Stroget - the main pedestrian zone in the city.
GradUT Posted August 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2017 The steps of City Hall (Radhus) would be a convenient place to meet your friends (and specific enough that you won't miss each other). Also, Copenhagen Free Walking Tours offers a GREAT "Grand Tour" which begins at City Hall at both 10:00 and 11:00 am. The tour lasts about 3 hours and ends at Amalienborg Palace so you can continue your sightseeing from there. This tour was one of the highlights of our Baltic Cruise. http://www.copenhagenfreewalkingtours.dk/index.html
LocoLoco1 Posted August 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2017 You will be docking NORTH of the city proper... much too far to comfortably walk. Between Cruise Dock and 'Downtown' is the Little Mermaid statue out on its rock. 2/Blks from your gangplank will be a open-air city bus stand. Take Bus #26 if you'd like. One time we got maybe $50/US dollars changed at ship's Front desk in small bills and quickly took Bus#26 towards Mermaid, THEN we all got the Hop on-Hop off Bus for a day (that INCLUDED the shuttle back to the Cruise Dock). There is NOTHING of much interest South beyond Tivoli Park and City Hall's Square, so to save your feet, grab the Tourist Board map and plan accordingly. montelco Posted August 27, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted August 27, 2017 Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will need to get in touch with them but the City Hall sounds like a great idea.
eclue Posted August 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Does anyone know of a transfer shuttle from CPH port to the airport that will pick up and do a tour of some sort...We will disembark on May 10 on the REgal Princess and our flight to Frankfurt is not until 6:55pm. We will have 4 suitcases for the two of us so a bit difficult to use city transport. Thanks, eclue:)
