jonj Posted August 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Last time I sailed on HAL was fourteen years ago. I am sure many things have changed. We sailed on the Zuiderdam in the Caribbean in a suite. I know the suite categories have changed but it was a full suite, similar to category SB now. If I remember correctly cocktails are not served in the lounge for suite guests like there is on other cruise lines, RCCL, Disney, etc. I don't remember is soft drinks and bottled water was available in the lounge. What should I be aware of that is new / changed with HAL. Sailing on the Eurodam at the end of January 2018 with my husband. We have booked a SC Neptune Suite. We were also considering Celebrity but the price on this sailing was too good to pass up. Do I need to prebook specialty restaurants? If yes how long prior to boarding do reservations open? Internet - I do need to check email for work purposes (self employed), cost and options? Thank you for any information anyone can provide to these questions and looking forward to tips and hints
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Neptune Lounge -- besides no free cocktails -- you also can not get free bottled water or free sodas. The Neptune Lounge does have a small bar where you can buy drinks to have either there or take back to your cabin. If you have a Drink package -- you can not use it to buy drinks in the Neptune Lounge as they do not have a way to swipe your card. You fill out a card with what drink(s) you bought and it will be billed to your shipboard account. We always pre-book specialty restaurants as soon as they open up -- there are times when they fill up quickly. We love the Tamarind Restaurant on this ship. Also like the Silk Den for pre-dinner cocktails. Sorry I don't have prices for Internet as we do not use it very often on a ship. Hopefully reservations will soon open up for your cruise. One time HAL was trying to decide what special dinners they were going to offer in the Pinnacle Grill and we weren't able to book any specialty restaurant for a February cruise until the end of December. IMHO KBYG contains a lot of good and helpful info. Smooth sailing :) :) :) KBYG(5).pdf
