Car rental - Lahaina

We are in Lahaina from 8am to 6pm and would like to rent a car and drive to Haleakala, and then if time permits drive along Ka'anapali Beach/Kapalua Coast.

 

It seems that most car rental places are located at the airport which is quite a way from Lahaina, so:

 

Is there somewhere closer to the tender drop off that we could rent a car?

Is what I am planning feasible given the time we are in port?

There are two sites for rental cars on the Lahaina side. One a little more than halfway to the West Maui airport. ..10 to 15 minutes drive, and the other is at the West Maui airport, 20 minutes tops away. They can be seen on Google Maps.

True, it is feasible, but you will be spending hours and hours just driving. Maui is a place where it is better (at least to us) to experience everything close up rather than viewing it from a car window or over a steering wheel.
