fkfad Posted August 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2017 As a result of TS Harvey, New Orleans is slated to get a significant amount of rainfall over the next several days. We are scheduled to sail on the Dream, departing New Orleans on September 3. I'm curious if there is a chance our cruise will be canceled due to this weather system...any thoughts? Has anyone's cruise been canceled out of NOLA due to similar weather issues?
PattBenatar Posted August 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2017 Of course there is. I would be amazed that NOLA is not affected by non-essential traffic. But time will tell.
coevan Posted August 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2017 September 3 is 6 days away, you should be fine but who knows
olcar Posted August 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2017 There hasn’t been any mentioning of a delay for the Dream getting from the current cruise.
chengkp75 Posted August 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2017 While NOLA is supposed to get some "significant" rain out of Harvey, it will all depend on how fast the rainfall accumulates, with the reduced pumping capacity of the city's drainage pumps that was discovered in August. So, if the rain falls very heavily, there could be some flooding of parts of the city, but this would be cleared over a couple of days, and you have more than enough time until your cruise, but at this time of the year, the river is not particularly high and there should not be any problems with ship traffic on the river itself. Drazil65 Posted August 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2017 Keep your eye on the weather as you know no one can predict what mother nature has in store at this point....come up with a back up plan (ie: if you are on vaca time from work what will you do at that point? go somewhere else? put work on notice that you may be canceling your vaca?) With this much notice that there may or may not be issues that could impact your cruise, you have time to come up with at least some thoughts if faced with a change of plans....;p
fkfad Posted August 29, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted August 29, 2017 Thank you for all of your replies! I will remain hopeful that our cruise is going forward and we can get to the port! In the meanwhile, praying for all of our many friends in Texas (and Louisiana)!
