lneilan Posted August 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I am scheduled for a cruise that stops in Cuba this January, does anyone know what special documentation I would need? I am having trouble getting clear information. Thanks!
opusX Posted August 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Yes, the cruise line will provide it at a cost of $50.00. That's how it was when we went in April.

SO, I do not have to do anything before I get on the ship? That would be a relief!

Krazy Kruizers Posted August 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2017 If I were you, I would call HAL and see if they are going to sell the Visa's on board the ship. Ineilan said that they were able to buy the Visa on board the ship. Well -- HAL hasn't been to Cuba yet -- thus Ineilan sailed on another cruise line and the rules could differ by cruise line. sapper1 Posted August 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2017 When we flew to Cuba for our all inclusive vacations, Visas were handed out on the charter plane and were included in the package price. However, we had to fill them out ourselves and were told that typos and corrections were not permitted and if a mistake was made then a new Visa would have to be purchased. I think that is an important thing to mention in case HAL passengers are not warned to be extra careful when filling out the Visa. It could prove costly. Rare steamboats Posted August 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2017 The price is 75 USD - more information here (RCI pdf - there´s similar information by NCL). steamboats
Loreto Posted August 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2017 The information for US citizens is on the HAL website. I wanted to know before I booked a Cuba itinerary. HAL adds $75 to your account on board for the visa, which is quite restrictive (nothing like good for 5 years) We are excited to be going in March. lneilan Posted August 31, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I have been looking on the HAL website and cannot locate that information. Do you know where on the site it is? I appreciate the information.
Loreto Posted August 31, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I have been looking on the HAL website and cannot locate that information. Do you know where on the site it is? I appreciate the information. Hi After I said it was on the web site I decided to take a look as I know I saw it before. I had to search but found it! On the HAL web page click on DESTINATIONS. Cuba is listed, click on it and a page comes up "Caribbean Cruises to Cuba." At the end of the paragraph is and underlined General Guest Q&A PDF. Click on that and all the information about travel to Cuba, including the Visa info can be found. You would think it would be on the necessary documentation page, do I need a Visa? but it isn't. Loreto Posted August 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 31, 2017 From the HAL web page under destinations: will guests be required to have a visa to enter Cuba? All guests are required to obtain a visa in order to enter Cuba. The type of visa that a guest will need will depend on certain factors, including the reason for travel to Cuba. Most guests will be able to enter Cuba utilizing a “Tarjeta Turistica” (or “tourist card”) visa. Guests will purchase the “Tarjeta Turistica” from Holland America at a cost of $75 per person. This fee will be added to your onboard account. Holland America will distribute this visa during embarkation and guests will be responsible for providing their visa to the Cuban authorities upon arrival in Cuba. If a guest loses their visa, they will be able to purchase a new visa onboard at an additional cost of $75. Guests who were born in Cuba or are traveling for specific reasons, such as journalists, will need to obtain non-tourist card visas from the Cuban consulate or a visa service. of course you will also need a passport. hope this helps...there is a lot of info in the PDF Karen

NMLady Posted September 1, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Yes, the cruise line will provide it at a cost of $50.00. That's how it was when we went in April. What cruise line did you go to Cuba on in April? It wasn't HAL since they didn't go in April. HAL and NCL are both charging $75.
Rare steamboats Posted September 1, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 1, 2017 HAL and NCL are both charging $75. RCI does charge 75 USD also. That´s the regular fee for anyone cruising from the US (or flying from the US to Cuba). Here in Europe I only pay 25 USD for the tourist card flying directly to Cuba (Havana or Varadero). steamboats
