Hurricane Irma - Anthem of the Seas - Bermuda Sept. 9, 2017 sailing

Recommended Posts

Hello, all you September 9th Anthem people....we are now on a "watch" status for sailing....not due to Irma, but Jose who is close behind....believe there will be an update at 6PM tonight.....

I believe that Jose is going to a bigger issue for our sailing than Irma will be.

ITINERARY UPDATES

September 5, 2017 at 6:00 PM EDT (next update tomorrow at noon EDT)

We are closely monitoring Hurricane Irma’s path and its potential impact to our current and upcoming sailings. Royal Caribbean’s Chief Meteorologist, James Van Fleet, is closely tracking the storm’s progress, and the current forecast is as follows:

Hurricane Irma is a category 5 hurricane with sustained winds around the center at 185 mph and is currently located about 210 miles east of Antigua. The storm continues its westerly track at 15 mph. While it is difficult to predict the path of the storm at this time, it is likely that Irma will impact Florida at some point this weekend.

In an effort to give you advance notice of any changes while also taking into account the most accurate forecast information, we will be providing updates on any impacted sailings no later than 2 days in advance of departure.

The following sailings are departing as scheduled:

Adventure of the Seas: September 9 Southern Caribbean cruise

Grandeur of the Seas: September 7 New England/Canada cruise

Liberty of the Seas: September 10 Western Caribbean cruise

Serenade of the Seas: September 10 New England/Canada cruise

Vision of the Seas: September 7 New England/Canada cruise

The following sailings are canceled:

Enchantment of the Seas: September 8 Bahamas cruise

Majesty of the Seas: September 8 Bahamas cruise

We are very sorry for the impact this storm has had on your vacation and please know that we made the decision with the safety and comfort of our guests and crew in mind. The cruise fare and fees will be 100% refunded to the original form of payment, and we are also offering a 25% future cruise credit, based on the cruise fare, if a new cruise is booked in the next 30 days. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call 1-800-256-6649.

The following sailings are currently being evaluated and we will provide our next update at noon EDT tomorrow:

Allure of the Seas: September 10 Western Caribbean cruise

Anthem of the Seas: September 9 Bermuda cruise

Empress of the Seas: September 9 Cuba cruise

Harmony of the Seas: September 9 Eastern Caribbean cruise

Oasis of the Seas: September 10 Eastern Caribbean cruise

For all guests currently sailing with us, the Captain and team onboard will be providing you specific updates at 1 pm and 615 pm daily, and of course will update you immediately if anything changes.

Should we need to make additional itinerary changes or cancel an additional sailing to avoid the storm, we will reach out to guests directly, as well as update our website and social media feeds immediately. Please know that the safety and comfort of our guests are our top priority and we will continue to provide regular updates throughout the week.

Does anyone have any ideas on what RCCL might possibly do if Hurricane Irma affects the Sept 9, 2017 Anthem of the Seas 5 day sailing when Bermuda is the only port of call? We've experienced port changes due to weather problems in the Caribbean, but not when there is just one port. I haven't bothered to call RCCL since it's still speculative and I'm sure they're busy with LOS in Galveston.

They are supposed to make a call today (Wednesday) by noon. I agree with the following post, we could go north to Canada. My family and I are on this cruise, invited by the casino for a golf event in Bermuda. That would have to cancel, obviously, if they changed ports.

Well this stinks because we are also on this sailing but I guess it is what it is,but I hope they refund for all the prepaid excursions that were made with them if we can't get to Bermuda

Our fam is on this sailing as well. I originally thought we'd change ports, but looks like getting back to Bayonne may be the problem as the day of sailing the storm is expected to be near Cuba.

anyone think we will have the opportunity to rebook? that's all I want at this point. Seems like the other cruises had that option.

The other cruises were cancelled though, right? I doubt they will allow a cancel with full refund...but maybe, who knows? we should know more soon.

FYI -- two years ago another golf course was found in St. John's for the golf outing.

Unless there's a fear of impact to NJ, we will remain a 5 night cruise. Where we go? We will see. At this point, I would be thankful for some OBC to spend in the spa.

I'm wondering if they will just do one day in Bermuda, or leave early in the morning on Tuesday. This would give them enough time to get ahead of the storm if it was heading to Bermuda.

I would much prefer this nightmare than what is going on down in the Caribbean right now. While I would rather go to Bermuda, just being on the ship (and Halifax) and not dealing with potential power outages and bad weather in NC is good for me.

But I get where everyone is coming from and would prefer those that don't want to sail to be refunded. No fun sailing with people who don't want to be there.

that would work for me. I'm sure they would offer 100% cruise credit and we can just rebook and end this nightmare.

They're not going to offer 100% cruise credit. The ship is sailing either to Bermuda or Canada. The most that might happen is maybe a very small OBC if they need to change the itinerary, and refund of different port charges.

The only people that may get a refund, are those with insurance, that can't get to the ship because their flights are cancelled. (people coming from Florida) and that would only be with documentation - declared state of emergency.

well, I will not be getting on that ship on Saturday, so any money I can get back would be a bonus. I am sure I am not the only one.

So far no one has cancelled. There is only one owners suite left on the cruise. There have been no mass cancellations.
