Stunning Footage St Maarten

Let me assure you that HAL is keeping track of the storm and has a couple of plans they can follow. We were leaving Faroe Islands and supposed to stop at Shetland on an Iceland cruise. The Capt came on just as we left and said he was conversing with Seattle, US National Bureau and the Weather Channel and no Shetland stop as a tropical storm we had when we left FL. had turned into a hurricane heading to the North sea. He was putting the the pedal to the metal and we had an extra day in Iceland! Passenger safety (and crew) is at the top of the list at HAL.

Hurricane Irma is unbelievably strong - here is footage from the Maho Beach webcam on St. Maarten just before it was destroyed by the hurricane. Prayers for safety of all those in Irma's path!

Yes, sadly, double WOW!! in looking at this rather interesting and unique footage from Saint Maarten. It really makes the point about the danger when you have BOTH heavy rain and super strong winds.

According to News reports still coming in, 95% of the French side of St Maarten has been tottaly wiped out:( https://www.yahoo.com/news/scenes-destruction-irma-began-trickle-181522294.html

 

It is still early and more will be coming in from other Islands like Turks and Caicos and Florida in the direct path of this Cat 5 hurricane with 2 more following her:(
