Rare SuzieQ521 Posted September 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Hi all, At the airport now after our amazing Alaskan cruise on the Ruby Princess. I hope to do a full review soon but just wanted to mention that we had wonderful weather...worst of it was some very light rain for a couple hours in Juneau. Glacier Bay was gloriously sunny all day, and we also had sunny days in Skagway, and the best sunny weather in Ketchikan with no wind. Last night's weather in Victoria was pleasant as well. I had been concerned based on what I read about a stormy September but we had none of that, although I know it's unpredictable. Took advantage of some great end of season sales too! Thanks all for the advice and input.
xlxo Posted September 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Glad to hear the weather worked out for you. Yes, the West Coast is very dry compared to the East Coast this year.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Welcome home. When it comes to Alaska weather you just never know. Same for other areas of the world too. It could be sunny, rainy, windy, warm, cooler or a combination of all of this. Look forward to your review. Keith

Alaska05 Posted September 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I just booked for next September. We've taken 8 Alaska cruises but never as late as September. Did you see any whales, or will they have begun migration south.
Rare SuzieQ521 Posted September 27, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted September 27, 2017 We actually had a few whale sightings leaving Glacier Bay. And I believe that people that did the whale watching excursion were successful in seeing some. They likely do start migrating south end of September. I just booked for next September. rwmiller Posted September 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2017 We just got back from Alaska on the Grand Princess and agree the weather was great...but, both of our excursions involving aircraft were canceled due to weather. In Juneau there were low clouds early that burned off too late for our helicopter tour. Then at Icy Strait our glacier viewing flight was canceled by fog in Glacier Bay. I have heard a lot of the flying tours get canceled but it was disappointing since both days ended up beautiful. Many whales were spotted by people on the ship. Enjoy!
