I am cruising in January 2018 and wanted to know if buying the drink packages is required or if you only drink maybe 2 drinks per day? At age 70 I am not into drinking a great deal. But I have read that if one person in a cabin buys a package the other person has to do the same. Help please.

Purchasing the Cheers package is not required but if one of you in the stateroom purchases it, the other will have to as well

If you only drink 2 alcoholic beverages per day, it may not be worth the $50/day + 15% gratuity, unless you plan on also drinking a lot of non-alcoholic drinks - soda, specialty coffee, bottled water, virgin cocktails, etc......

Purchasing a drink package is never required

However, on carnival, if one person in a cabin purchased cheers, all adults in the cabin must purchase cheers

So best way to look at it is whether the total consumption between the adult cabin mates will be more or less than the cost of cheers for everyone
