billxinli Posted September 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Hey all: This is our second cruise and would like to be a little more adventurous. I am curious how does the speciality dining work? For example, Chops Grill has a cost of 43.75 per person, but on the menu there isn't any prices to the items. So how do they charge you for the items?
jasper15 Posted September 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2017 You pay the cover charge for the restaurant, then you can eat whatever you like from the menu - no extra charge. From memory there were a couple of special dishes that you could order at Chops that were a small additional fee but they were clearly marked on the menu. If you would like to book specialty restaurants, there is often a deal where you can book 3 or 5 nights for a discounted rate. What ship are you going on? billxinli Posted September 28, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Brilliance of the Seas On the Nov 9th TA crossing from Spain to Tampa. All you can eat with a cover is not a bad deal... The Keg usually cost more than that. Thanks for the answer!
Tee & Chilli Posted September 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Not really all you can eat. You’re only allowed one entree and unlimited appetizers/starters. As for desserts, I’ve ordered two on many occasions. Drinks such as soda and alcohol are not included in the cover charge.

SRF Posted September 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2017 At Chops in Grandeur last August, they INSISTED that the 4 of us order 6 of the 8 side dishes (or was it 8 of the 10), anyway, all but 2. They are served family style. And it is a 4 course meal. Appetizer, salad, entree, dessert.

They did it for me at Giovanni's though. They asked if we wanted it family style. When we said yes, they just took the menu and brought everything on the menu to us. Similar experience at Wonderland on Anthem. The waiter asked us what our preferences were, and then just pretty much brought everything on the menu. Foodluvr Posted September 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Side dishes at Chops are family style and served on the side. Each one is easily 2-3 servings. The Guyere Tots are amazing!
csaeroach Posted September 28, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Look on your cruise planner and see if your sailing of being offered a BOGO for $30. You can dine in two specialty restaurants for only $30 total for both restaurants (making them only $15 each), for the first two nights of your cruise. It is an excellent value.
