DYKWIA Posted October 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) BBC have just announced that UK based airline, Monarch has ceased trading. I know earlier this year when we were looking at cruise and flights through Celebrity that Monarch was one of the airlines they were offering. Situation appears complicated as to what happens next, depending on whether you're in the UK or not and how you booked. Government has brought in 30 aircraft for the repatriation of c110,000 passengers. That seems to be about bringing people back to the UK not flying from the UK. DYKWIA Posted October 2, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Apologies for the typos in the title, I'm working off my phone without my glasses this morning. That should be Monarch Airlines and Europe
villauk Posted October 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2017 X do use Monarch and many pax from the UK book independently wth them too. What with all Ryanair's cancellations as well, this past week hasn't been good if one has booked with budget airlines :o.
barbette165 Posted October 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2017 The BBC say that the repatriation flights will be at approximately the same time as the original flight, so when people currently on cruises arrive at the airport, there should be a plane provided to bring them back to the UK (at no additional cost). There's a website that's been set up with more information monarch.caa.co.uk

Apparently approx 750k passengers have future flights booked with Monarch, in addition to the 100k currently overseas.
barbette165 Posted October 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2017 The repatriation flights back to the UK, for the next two weeks, cover all passengers (inclusive holidays and flight only) - of the 100k overseas only 10k are on inclusive/package holidays so the flight only customers form the vast majority of the passengers being rescued on the 'shadow' flights. roygg Posted October 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2017 NOTE The website to go to for information is https://monarch.caa.co.uk NOT www.monarch.caa.co.uk as shown on X's website.
