CHEERS? Need advice

We are excited. We have it for the first time ever (15 cruises). We sailed a few months ago and I think between two of us our bar tab was about 900. And we definitely didn't drink all we would have liked, because we didn't want to pay that much. And that doesn't include the two bottles of liquor and two bottles of wine we had in the room. I am so excited that it's paid for and I can drink whatever I want. My husband does coffee and we both drink espresso (with sambucca). I don't do energy drinks but I know the people I am cruising with do, so I will get some, and definitely some Gatorade to take to the beach. My baby neice will definitely be having her first (and second and third) milshake ever! Yep, planning to enjoy this trip!

Each persons mileage will vary but my wife does not drink AT ALL. Our first sailing I was so bummed to not get CHEERS! thinking I wouldn't be getting my money's worth. We were on a 7 day sailing, 4 ports. My final bill for drinks was under the cost of what Cheers would have been for me. I would have been $400+ just for my portion of Cheers but my bill was around $325. I drank a lot more in Port than normal but it was far, far cheaper.

The last time I posted on this I said I was going to save my response so I could just copy and paste:

1) IT IS NOT *****JUST ALCOHOL*****!!!! If people could stop thinking like that it would be helpful. We drink a lot of bottle water and I thought I'd drink more milkshakes. Hubby drinks soft drinks with dinner every night (if not a cocktail).

2) It "enhances" your cruise experience by a) not having a surprise bill at the end b) allowing you to drink (more expensive) drinks you normally wouldn't c) replacing a melted frozen drink/one you don't like and not feeling guilty/wasteful about it.

3) if you budget by buying before you get on the ship (it costs less) and using a pre-purchased 10% of gift card, you are not paying the price that everyone is using to determine if it's "worth it" or not.

Cheers! is $55 per day. So, this person makes out on the deal by about $15-$20 a day.

It's $55/day when you purchase it onboard.

I purchased for a discount prior to sailing. I think it was discounted to $49.95.

I used a gift card I'd purchased for 10% off with it.

So in the end, I didn't "pay" $55/day for mine.

I got it. I drank mixed drinks and a few beers. Had I not used the Cheers package my bill would’ve been around $700. I paid $280 for Cheers after gratuity. Well worth it for me. I don’t always drink that much but when I’m on vacation I tend to cut loose.

It is easy to get to 8-10 drinks any day on a cruise for me 1 glass of wine with lunch, 1 drink in the afternoon, 2-3 before dinner, 2 glasses of wine with dinner, 3 4 drinks in the casino or lounge = 9-11 drinks
