My husband is really nervous about hopping in a cab to head to The Money Bar/ Paradise island. How commercialized is the area and anyone not feel safe doing it?

 

No problem getting cab to and from Money Bar, about 10 minute ride. Not sure what you mean by commercialized - there are no shops around - it is a relatively small beach bar opposite an American owned condo block.

 

To reduce cost, and maybe make him feel better about safety in numbers, try and share with other people in line at taxi dispatch

 

Lots of photos in the gallery of their website. Never felt unsafe and one of our favorites for sunset dinners.

Never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get a return cab either. Very easy to get to and from, just ask how much to get back before you get in. Some taxis seem to take advantage of cruise ship tourists because they don't know the rates.

Taxis in Coz are regulated. The taxi stand near your port should be well marked and have a rate board. We have never had an issue using taxis in Cozumel or felt unsafe in any way.
