Regal-Best Bang-for-the-buck Balcony or Mini-suite Cabine

First time Princess cruiser. Looking for a great balcony or mini-suite cabin. What are the best ones you've had? Looking for suggestions.

 

There are some forward cabins with obstructed view/extra large balconies. Also mid ship balconies/mini suites with larger/angled balconies.

 

Leaning toward a mini-suite because there will be 3 of us and that queen sofa/sleeper looks nice. But I'm open to suggestions.

 

Assume Royal cabins are same. We might end up choosing Royal. It will be based on itinerary.

All I can say is we had a minisuite on the Regal and it was huge. I was astonished at the size. The sofa was huge, the desk was gigantic, two televisions, and a large heavy curtain dividing the bed from the living area for privacy. Big bathroom too. We are spoiled now and have gone back to regular balcony cabins but they're just not as luxurious. It has made oceanview cabins looks positively intolerable by comparison!

On Royal/Regal, the best bang for the buck are often the obstructed deluxe balconies. These are odten less than insides, have a larger cabin with small sofa and - depending on which one, can have much larger balconies, although obstructed views.

We love the forward Emerald Deck cabins, ie 101-110. Much larger balconies on up to quite huge balconies - they have metal instead of glass railings, but the space more than makes up for it. Convenient to elevators, quiet - they work well for us, and often come in cheaper than an inside. For our cruise next week in Royal, our cabin was $1200 less than an inside. Go figure.

Mid-ship minis can have the larger than standard balcony if you snag one of the angled ones. And deluxe obstructed on Emerald deck mid-ship have almost zero obstruction with the larger balconies also..

For space for three, a Deluxe Balcony or mini is great. The deluxe balcony sofa folds out for the third bed, plus the extra seating during the day is a nice bonus.. And of course a mini is larger overall, differentiated spaces, larger bathroom.. Those forward facing minis on the front corners can be the best of all - huge rooms, almost like a suite layout, plus the ginormous wrap-around balconies. Worth checking into if budget allows.

Depends on your budget, cabin type wanted, etc. We find the best bang for our buck to generally be the obstructed deluxe balconies as they almost always are cheaper than insides, and give good space overall. YMMV.

Thanks all. Another question. Are all the mini-suites set up with the bed closest to the balcony? Or do they all have the sofa adjacent to the balcony?

All set up with sofa next to balcony. They do not alternate like on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity, etc.

How bout those obstructed balconies all the way forward Emerald deck with the large balcony?

We had a Deluxe Balcony for three in Royal...

It was kinda cramped at night because the couch opens to block both the balcony door and the refrigerator door.

We did the Mini-suite last year and it was roomy. Passenger #3 decided on the pull-down bed from the ceiling.

We were in a mini suite on regal last year and although the cabin was large , the standard balcony was tiny! Three people could hardly stand out side, much less sit!

You're right, the standard balconies are very small. That's why we like the obstructed view deluxe balcony cabins in the front of the ship. Cabin not as large as a minisuite, but larger than a standard balcony cabin. The balcony in E110 and E109 is huge. Works well for 3 in a room, and much cheaper than a minisuite. We had E110 on the Royal last year for a transatlantic and have booked the same cabin on the Regal for next year.

We have sailed with our daughter and opted for the mini suite. More room in the cabin plus the full bathroom. Our adult daughter chose to sleep in the pull down from the ceiling over the sofa bed as she didn't want us to have to go around her on the sofa bed if we woke up early. She said the pull down was quite comfortable and she felt all snug up there!
