GLS67 Posted October 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2017 I am cruising in April on the Allure. My husband and I are some the few people that actually enjoy getting dressed up for formal nights! That being said, I don't want him to drag his tux there if no one else is getting that dressed up! Has anyone been to a formal night recently that could give me an idea of how many people are getting really dressed up? Thanks!!

Wear what you want.
Janet524 Posted October 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2017 Like you we enjoy getting "gussied up" for formal nights. DH always takes his tux and I wear a long gown. We get dressed up for us and don't worry about what others are wearing. My advice....go for it. When you look spectacular you feel spectacular. cb at sea Posted October 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2017 Some of us enjoy looking good! You cannot be "overdressed" on formal nights. The others might be "underdressed"...so be it! Go for it!

GLS67 Posted October 28, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Thanks everyone! The last cruise we were on, I heard mutterings about getting rid of formal nights, but it seems as though they still exist, and haven't changed much! Thanks again! Pitcruiser Posted October 28, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Saw everything from shorts to tuxes this summer on "formal" nights. They did ask that you wear long pants in the Coastal Kitchen but don't know if anyone was enforcing the request. I used to wear a tux years ago, then went to a suit, and now just take a blazer, button down shirt, slacks and a tie. With that on I was probably on the dressier side. Take the tux if you enjoy wearing it and want to dress for a special night, but don't take it because you feel you have to.
stag Posted October 28, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Last month on Allure formal nights, we saw a guy dressed no collar T with shorts in the MDR. Someone posted an excellent message on this board that dress is to respect. I couldn't find the post. Would someone help.
yuvraj Posted October 28, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2017 We were on Allure in August. There was a good mix with some dressing up and others not. Plus there are 2 formal nights on our cruise, we found more people made an effort on the second formal night.
Cruising with Us Posted October 28, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 28, 2017 We were on the allure in May. I would say about a third of the people were dressed in formal wear on formal nights.
