Calling Cards

Can you use a International Calling Card from anywhere on the ship or at payphones in the ports? Do they work from here to the Caribbean and from there to here. Also, where do you buy International Calling Cards? My nephew has just signed on as a performer with DCL. I would like to give him calling cards to call home with.

The calling cards probably won't work on ship. And the international calling cards that we purchase here in the states are usually only good for calling internationally FROM the states, not back to the states. You might see if there is a cellular phone company that has service throughout the Caribbean and purchase him a cellular phone through that company with a calling plan.

If he is working on a ship he will get some good deals for his own calling cards for the various ports. Ship to shore phones in the cabins (even when crew uses them cost some major $$ for each minute.

Some people think that using the card is cheaper but still get socked for the ship to shore phone charges.

Give him cash instead. The crew has access to purchase calling cards which are much less expensive than the ones we can buy.
