Namelocg Posted October 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2017 For anyone that is coming to Ft Lauderdale for a cruise this week/weekend, be aware that this week, November 1 through 5 is the Ft Lauderdale international boat show. It is the biggest boat show in the world with over 2000 boats both in the water and on land and one of the main venues is the Ft Lauderdale convention center which is right there at the port. The traffic will be worse than normal so pack your patience and have a great cruise.

NikkiJ1983 Posted October 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Great heads up!! One year we came in during some huge Music Festival we knew nothing about. Took up 2 hours to drop the rental car off and get back to the ship. It was crazy!!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

rjl1977 Posted October 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Thanks for the heads up. It also lets people know to head to the port a little early so they won't miss the cruise also

winddawn Posted October 31, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2017 I experienced that last year with the boat show in Fort Lauderdale. Trying to find a pre-cruise hotel was difficult and expensive. I had to choose a hotel farther away than the one I usually book, and paid 3 times the usual price.

Fla Mike Posted October 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Thanks for the heads up. I would add, if you are going to the port at all, avoid the entrance on 17th street, (Eisenhower Blvd) entirely. That IS the Convention Center entrance. Your best bet is to take I-595 all the way to the end and enter from Eller Dr. The highway is clearly marked. 2nd choice would be from State Road 84, just east of US 1. BNBR Posted October 31, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2017 If you are staying overnight in FLL during the show - best to book a hotel off 595 further west. Davie/Plantation area. Then yes, take 595 straight into the port. The boat show will make no difference or slow you down if you plan accordingly.
