AARP Gift Cards

I have enough AARP points to purchase some gift cards. But I don't like the idea of purchasing a card now for a cruise next year that I could end up cancelling. If I do cancel it, I would have money invested in gift cards that I can't get back until I book another cruise. Besides booking another cruise, does anybody have any ideas on how to get the gift card now but be able to get a refund of the amount later in case of cancelation?

Gift cards are non-refundable. You buy it, you keep it.

I don't think gift cards are for you.

Once you buy it, you cannot get a refund. If you cancel, it will be returned as another gift card.

I realize that is the normal process. I’ve used them before. I was looking for an idea outside the box. Lots of creative people on here. Like cashing out in the casino instead of using an ATM. I will eventually get them. I just don’t like the risk of doing it this far ahead.

Definitely just wait - as far as I know, they are always available now, with e-gift cards. Every time I logged in recently, they were available. Bonus with the e-gift cards, there's no shipping and they'll arrive in your email within a few minutes.

Good idea. Didn’t know they were pretty much always available now. I will wait until closer to sail date.
