Picture opportunities?

When in Venice a few years ago, I was disappointed at not being allowed to take pictures in St. Marks. I bought postcards instead.

Now we are planning a trip to Florence and Rome and I am wondering are pics forbidden in the Vatican for example, how about Uffizi and the Museums in Florence?

You can take pictures in St. Peter's basilica and in the Vatican museums, but no flash is allowed. The only exception is the Sistine Chapel, no photos of any kind are allowed there: http://www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en/visita-i-musei/consigli-utili.html

Make sure you have plenty of room on your camera memory card. My camera did not stop going.

Yes as mentioned you can take photos inside just no flash.

 

Good point about the memory card and always have extra ones just in case something goes wrong with the existing card.
