Returning rental car in FLL

Looking to book a rental car thru hotwire, will be picking it up at the airport. Anyone can direct me if i can return it instead at the cruise area? Was planning on returning the car at the airport and taxi or uber it back to the cruise terminal?

If you return it to a location that you haven't cleared with the rental company you will pay a major penalty. Last time I tried at FLL they would allow it...for an upcharge of $325.00.

 

If you do a rental with Hotwire, look to see if they allow a return to a different location.

These off-airport locations are close to the cruise port and have shuttles to the cruise terminals:

Avis from Pier 66

Budget on 17th in shopping center next to Renaissance Hotel

Sixt further up 17th.

Thrifty/Dollar just out western port exit.

Yes, alternatively you can absolutely do that. Have done so many times. Cab to the port will be about $12 - 15 plus tip, and Uber even less. It may work out to just do that instead of waiting with dozens of others who are waiting for a shuttle ride. :)
