Now, if you change that to mention inventions that did not work as expected, yes, many times the human factor was not covered. We just stayed at a hotel in a small village in Austria. The doors still had actual keys. I highly--very highly--doubt this inn with about 30 rooms owned a key cutter. They did have a great breakfast though.
