chipmeister Posted November 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2017 Quick question. We're booked on Symphony in April out of Barcelona. We noticed on our paperwork that it shows traditional early dining at 6:30. We're used to seeing 6. Just wondering if anyone who has done a Barcelona sailing, maybe on Harmony, knows if 6:30 is the norm.
cruzgryphon Posted November 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2017 I've done a few Mediterranean cruises with Royal (not on the Harmony). One thing I found is that dining times tend to be later in Europe. Late traditional seating is usually 8:30pm and I've even seen a 9pm seating. So the 6pm to 6:30pm shift on a European cruise doesn't surprise me.
papaflamingo Posted November 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2017 Agree with cruzgryphon. We experienced the same times when in Europe.
gerif Posted November 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 27, 2017 Europeans do tend to eat later than those n the U.S., so, no, I don't find this unusual.
yuvraj Posted November 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 27, 2017 My preference would be MTD rather than traditional on this class of ship to give me more flexibility over how I organise my evening. I have done quite a few Med sailings. Not paid too much attention to fixed dinning times but have noticed that Europeans, especially the Spanish do like to eat later. chipmeister Posted November 27, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted November 27, 2017 Thanks all. I had a suspicion it was catering to European custom but it was the first time I'd ever seen it.
Norwich Cruiser Posted November 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2017 European cruise evening meal dining times are usually about thirty minutes later than Caribbean sailings.
