TnTravel Posted December 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2017 More on Dream-There was but one INSIDE bar open before 2pm and it often had loud games going on. On other ships we have enjoyed having drinks before dinner at a bar with a dance floor. While the Dream Bar is fine, it is like drinking in a hotel lobby. Except when the Spicatto Trio was playing, the music was too loud for us all over the ship. We could hear it in our cabin on 7 until late at night. Dress was extremely casual. On Dress night there were people in dining room in shorts, flipflops, and caps. We have gotten more casual but wouldn't show up like that in any nice restaurant. Conclusion is that Carnival is not for us retired people who just want to relax and enjoy being waited on. The families were no problem. The problems come with uninhibited adults taking over all areas all times of the day and night. The Staff, other than waiters on second night, was always helpful and pleasant. easyboy Posted December 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2017 Wouldn’t go either in shorts in the dining room on Dress/Elegant nights Sent from my iPhone using Forums
sanmarcosman Posted December 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2017 The loud games taking over the atrium during the day are scheduled in that venue by the ship's entertainment director. Indoor drinkers before 2 in the afternoon are more common on Cunard and the like.
mdsgu Posted December 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2017 Was on this cruise, too. Some people do arrive in the MDR in shorts, even on elegant night. We didn't let it bother us. For the record, I always wear long pants and a collared shirt to dinner. There was a couple seated next to us (different table), and they always showed up in shorts and T-shirts. I don't really understand that, especially when Carnival goes to great pains to outline exactly what passengers should wear. I agree that the music in the lobby tended to be a bit loud, regardless of who was playing, but it seemed to be just fine everywhere else. We were on Deck 8 midship and we never had a problem with any noise in our cabin.
lcpagejr Posted December 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2017 Did you try the Casino bar?? Or were you just looking for a bar area where you could sit as well ?? When I was on the Dream's sister ship (Breeze)...never had a problem finding a drink inside..at anytime???
TnTravel Posted December 3, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted December 3, 2017 Casino bar was loud and smokey so never tried drinking there. We did get drinks outside sometimes and carried them back in on windy days. Got drinks once at Alchemy until Trivia began.

theboatahoy Posted December 4, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Hmm.. Alchemy never opened before 5pm on our just completed Vista sailing?! I'm guessing they are talking about griva that was later in the day. Alchemy opens at 5pm fleet wide.
