Riba Posted May 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2004 We will be in Puerto Limon in March on a cruise. What can we expect for weather? What can 4 senior citizens do while we are there? How about shopping or the beach, any excursions you would recommend? Thanks for any help. ChattTenn Posted May 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2004 Hello, We were in Limon late March, 2004. 11 of us from the Island Princess used Oscar Brown who lives in Limon area and his tour was nice and personal (there are several threads about him) check them out and his sevice is highly recommend by others on this board. We had a wonderful day in Limon and can't wait to go back for another visit. Certainly will contact him again if we will. If you would like to use him. His cell phone number is 011-506-350-6415 and his e-mail is cbrown@costarricense.cr He charged $45 per person for our tour the Toturgero Canal tour and sightseeing. He also has other tours. There are vendors very close to the pier. You can buy crafts, T-shirts and coffee there (coffee is cheaper in town supermarket just two blocks from the vendors area and left another 2 blocks). Happy cruising
Nanatravel Posted July 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2004 When we were at Limon, we found the tented private tour guides at the pier. We went to playa Bonita, took the Tortugera Canal tour, stopped to pet 3 toed sloths and monkeys, toured and visited the Dole Bananna plantation and our guide Humberto took us to the supermarket for coffee, etc. It was a great way to experience this beautiful country for much less than a ship's tour and to see much more leisurely. Driftwoodgal Posted July 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2004 I will highly recommend Oscar Brown as well. He will tailor your day to what your interests are. The price he charges depends on what you do and how far he has to drive. I had priced several tours and found him to be very competitive in his price. He has a newer van that has AC. The price that he charged us was $30 to take us to the Zipline, then to a bananna plantation, to a friends to pet a sloth and hold Rosita (monkey), toured the city downtown and neighborhoods, then to a restaurant with a spectacular view of the harbor. He supplied cold drinks for us in his van..... and what a gentleman. He waited for us over an hour and a half as our ship was late. We didn't pay him a deposit, he collected for the tour at the end of our tour. We will use him again when we go back to his wonderful country. There was no charge for anything that we saw, only for the zipline. The rest of the stops were included in his fee. Please note that Costa Rica, Puerto Limon, has trouble with their emails. They receive them, but have trouble getting a response back to you. I finally just called Oscar directly and spoke to him on his cell phone. He speaks excellent English. Hope you have a great cruise. Costa Rica is beautiful, wish I had bought more coffee
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2004 :) The Tortuguero Canal tour is the best for this port. We did it and loved it. :)

Appreciate any details you can give as to cost, lenghth of tour, etc. Eleanor Brilliance of the Seas, Jan 14, 2005
B J Posted August 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2004 We were there in Dec.04 and just picked out one of the tour guides at the pier for the canal trip. Just make sure they have an A/C and a nice van. We offered $25.00 pp and they took it. Took us on a boat ride in the canal and then on a tour of the city. This was a very nice port.
