Our friends and I are so excited about our upcoming cruise on Century...what has me thrilled to bits is the prospect of watching I LOVE LUCY, over and over and over...or the Honeymooners...over and over and over...there few things that make a cruise feel longer, but X has found one!! What a service...make a 7 day cruise feel like 10 days, by watching tv.

 

I admit I love sitcoms and "good" tv...embarrassing but true...but the in-cabin TV on X is pretty pathetic...perhaps some MASH, Fraser, A&E Biography, the History Channel, Law & Order, Discovery, the Food Network...anything to help me pass a bit of time while Jill is getting ready for dinner...Two hours worth should do it.

'Out Of Practice' Stars Henry Winkler, Stockard Channing Among Celebs To Attend September 26th Premiere Party For 'CBS Eye On Royal Caribbean'

 

Miami - September 26, 2005 - Royal Caribbean International and the CBS Television Network will unveil a new lineup of exclusive in-stateroom television programming on Sept. 26, hosting a star-studded premiere party onboard Monarch of the Seas at the Port of Los Angeles.

 

In true Hollywood style, premiere guests will walk the red carpet and mingle with CBS stars including Henry Winkler, Stockard Channing, Christopher Gorham and Ty Burrell of the new hit comedy "Out of Practice." The invitation-only event will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Boleros Latin Lounge onboard Monarch of the Seas.

 

Guests sailing on Royal Caribbean's 19 ships can now tune in to "CBS Eye on Royal Caribbean" on Channel 16 on RCtv in-stateroom television to view an assortment of programming from "America's Most Watched Network." This custom-produced, first-in-the-industry TV programming will be hosted by CBS personalities such as "Survivor's" Jeff Probst and CBS Sports' Jim Nantz. The hosts will lead viewers through a lineup highlighted by features from CBS News and CBS Sports; segments from "The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson"; full broadcasts of hit comedies such as "Two and a Half Men" and "The King of Queens"; special pieces, such as "Backstage on Broadway" and "Route 66" profiles of people and locales along the historic road; and entertainment coverage from "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider."

We don't watch tv at home at all, except for rented dvd's. Having a tv on in our cabin as we're getting dressed is a novelty for us. I don't wait for Michael and he doesn't wait for me too much but if I was in Danno's place, I'd want a distraction while I waited, too.

Hey Danno - On Galaxy in October they showed an episode of Frasier. One episode....over & over & over & over! I never thought I could really start hating Frazier!

On a long cruise or day at sea, not everyone wants to lay out in the sun all day. I enjoy coming back to the room and relaxing while watching tv. On the RCCL TA I took last Nov, they had some great old movies that I had never seen. Where the Boys Are and Willy Wanka just to name two. I dont want to spend 24/7 in the room, but its nice to have something new (or old) to watch while cruising either getting ready in the am, ready in the pm or just hanging out for an hour or so during the day. I've also seen some great Discovery shows while on the ship such as the building of the QM2 (I think it was), the Burj al Arab hotel and the operations of Cedar Point in Ohio. Problem now is they keep showing them so I've seen them about 5 times each.

I enjoy relaxing on the trip and dont have lots of money to spend (casino or shopping lectures) and dont care about the pool games (they are annoying imo) so the room with a good show is a great place to chill.

I found this channel that shows nothing but repeats of a view of the sea with some sombre music in the background. I swear they were playing the "Death March" at one point. If you want to watch it, it is only on for part of the day. The screen goes dark at night.:o

Funny thing Phil ~~ I can see that very same picture on my computer here at home --but without the music! :D And I can do something you can't. I can review those same pictures over and over on any given day, if I want to!

Phil, that channel that shows the outside of the ship and the sea comes in real handy when you've got an inside cabin. You can see at a glance if it's nice & sunny or if it's raining, and if I'm not mistaken, it also shows the temperature. Of course, I'd much rather just have a balcony to walk out and check the weather, but we can't always afford that.:cool:

I don't think I'm whining...I am bringing to X's attention, an aspect of our cruise that we see as falling short of what we would expect of this line...whining would be wanting an onboard credit, free cruise, upgrade or discount, because of the crappy TV...:D

 

If the TV didn't exist, it wouldn't bother me...but if it's there, at least make an effort to do a reasonable job of it.
