Question about deluxe beverage package

Recommended Posts

Hi! So we are getting the full beverage package that covers alcohol, juice, bottled water and specialty coffees. Does this also cover the fresh squeezed oj in the windjammer? Also will it add 18% grat every time we get something or is service charge covered in the price of the package?

Yes, it covers the fresh squeezed OJ, and the 18% service charge is added to the package price when you purchase it, no additional gratuity on board when you get drinks.

If you get a drink that is more expensive than the package covers (expensive wines by the glass, top shelf cocktails, etc) you will pay the difference and 18% on the difference. So if you are on a ship where the package covers up to $13 and get a $15 drink, you'll have to pay $2.36

First time we have sailed on Royal since they introduced drink packages & find they are just ok. You won’t be charged any extra unless you order something above the package limit.

The selection of wines within the package is extremely limited and the drinks we have tried seem to be watered down and tasteless. Not sure how a lemon drop can have no taste but they do! But the inclusion of water, fresh squeezed juice, soda and coffees almost make up for what is lacking in the wine & drinks.

We love the drink package. If you do happen to find a drink too weak, just ask for extra alcohol. I've never had to do that but my DH prefers double gins and every bartender has obliged without us having to pay any extra.

We've always found a wine we like by the glass in Vintages. Sure, sometimes we've paid $1 or $2 extra but we're on vacation!

At least you won't have a big drink bill at the end :) My cousin went on his first cruise and didn't buy a drink package. But him and his wife were enjoying themselves so much that they drank more than usual and ended up with a $1300 drink bill for a 7 night cruise!!
