Passport Expiration

I cruised on the Divina with 3 months remaining on that passport. I did the research beforehand to make sure I was not going to get stopped at embarkation, and all was well. As stated, if you have a closed loop cruise, it just must be valid through the date of your return. Don't stress!

For the Caribbean the only country that requires that is Cuba. For a closed loop cruise to the Caribbean the passport only need to be valid on the day you return to the US.

Costa Rica also requires a valid Passport - without one at check-in you cannot even board if the ship calls in Costa Rica.

Last spring we did a Caribbean cruise with passports that expired a couple of weeks after returning from our cruise. No problem.

Does Costa Rica have a 6 month validity rule for cruise ship passengers?
