sitraveler Posted December 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2017 I've paid in full for Regatta's Kaleidoscope of Cultures, which departs on May 6, 2018. There are no regular (not OS etc) tours in Cartegena Columbia, Puerto Quetzal or Acapulco posted. I've asked my TA but haven't heard back. Any thoughts? (Yeah I know O tours are overpriced)

kreastman Posted December 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2017 We will also be visiting Acapulco and Puerto Quetzal on our San Diego to Rio cruise (on Sirena), departing next Saturday. O is offering five shore excursion choices in each of those ports, so you can check those out and assume that your choices will be similar. alexandra cruiser Posted December 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2017 YEs, a good tip, I always check cruise upcoming with similar ports and excursions almost always the exact same . I usually take a few shore exc.with O in far off places, just to feel safe and know the language.Know I can pay more, but sometimes just less hassle. Andee Posted December 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2017 DH downloaded an excellent walking tour of Cartagena Old City. Cab ride from port was $10, same for the return ride. In the heat, we really appreciated being able to go at our own pace. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
sitraveler Posted December 12, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Thanks to all. Cartegena also has an excellent bird exhibit just through the port building.
Kate-AHF Posted December 12, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2017 May I suggest for Cartagena..... Plan on starting your day the instant the ship allows you off. We grabbed a cab and had hime take us up to La Popa, which opened at 8am. Very few tourists going in, throngs of them coming out. We then asked him to take us to the old city. Old town is wonderful, Really, really special. But by 11am the heat was fierce. Everyone said it would be hot, and boy howdy, they weren't kidding. Try not to miss the Gold Museum. It's free, and it's air conditioned, and the exhibits are excellent.
Andee Posted December 12, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 12, 2017 I agree about the Gold Museum. DH said the only thing wrong was that it wss too small (he wanted to spend mire time in a/c). Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app

We’d like to do something like that when we’re there in January.
Andee Posted December 12, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 12, 2017 DH usually googles "walking tour" in whatever city we're visiting. He downloads it to his phone and has a splitter so we can plug in 2 sets of headphones. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
