Add cash to on board account?

Traveling with 2 19-yr olds in their own adjoining room to mine. We have one sea pass Acct set up with my credit card as default payment, but I told them any money they spend on board needs to come from their own cash (like johnny rockets, arcade, wi-fi etc). Can they go to guest services and put cash on their room account the first day? If it’s not used I assume can get it back in cash at end, right?

When we took our four kids on our cruise, we did that as well. Each teenager had their own account and they each put $100 on it, and at the end of the cruise they went to guest services and got the money back they did not spend. Worked well for us!

You don't have to tie their onboard accounts to your credit card. You can opt for them to each have a cash account.

That’s a great lesson In being responsible with money. I like it! You should set the kids up for cash accounts as others have mentioned.

Also if you want to prepay their gratuity it won’t affect their cash balance

While on Oasis last summer I had my two teens on a CASH account thinking that after they spent their $100 OBC they'd have to add CASH. I was wrong. On a cash account they can actually spend up to $500 before it turns their cards off. That was the way it was explained to me by guest services after my daughter bought $120 worth of spa products after the massage I bought her.

You can have them as cash account, but you need to set up limit at guest services so it doesn't allow for that $500 allowance. They can keep track of their own spending on the tv in their cabin.

Best to confirm at Guest Services, but putting a spending limit on an onboard account does not limit arcade spending on some ships.

!. put limit on their card.

2. Make them stand in line and put their cash on their cards.

3. use the TV to monitor their spending.

Note, the Arcade is like a high powered vacuum and will spend that hundred faster than losing it in the casino on one hand of blackjack.
