T-mobile covers most of the Caribean and Central and South America.

 

No contract, but you DO need to get a norm account, not a pre-paid to get the great international roaming.

 

Unlimited text, unlimited data, 20 cent per minute calling.

Another minor advantage of a T-Mobile SIM is that it doesn't roam onto the ship's cellular system for data, so you don't have risk that your phone will run up thousands of dollars in data roaming charges sitting in the safe. Voice calls on the ship will be very expense (around $6 per minute) so still keep airplane mode on while at sea in case someone doesn't know you're on vacation and call you. WiFi is OK as with any device.
