Question about checking a minor in without parent

We will be traveling on the Liberty out of Port Canaveral on New Years Eve. There are two families traveling with a total of 10 people. The parents of the other family will not be arriving at the port until after 1:00, but we plan to be there as soon as they open.

 

We are discussing the possibility of two children (17 and 19 years old) from the other family riding with us so that they can get on the boat earlier, but are concerned that they won't be able to check in without their parents. Does anyone know if we would be able to check them in?

 

Any information would be appreciated.

Get a note for the 17 year old. The 19 year old isn't a child.

I don't see why there would be a problem.

 

You could easily be taking your niece/nephew/ godchild/ your childs BFF. At their ages they do not have to be in a stateroom with an adult. If the online account is set up with parents credit card they might want to take a copy of the permission to charge to the credit card.

 

Carnivals own rules clearly say the "guardian" does not have to be a legal guardian.
