tangogulf Posted December 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Voyager departed the OPT at around 6pm tonight Sat 30th Dec and backed out just past the Opera House before returning to the OPT. Assume some kind of emergency (medical or mechanical). Anyone onboard have any info? Picked this up as watching nine news and ship wasn't there in the background and then it was so took to the Harbour Webcam to check it out. Rosee Posted December 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2017 As seen on Ch 7 News from west of the Bridge, beginning at 6pm, Voyager was framed neatly under the Bridge. Then not long after, on a different view looking towards the Quay from near Milson's Point, she was back in near the wharf again. She stayed at the wharf for a while then backed out again around 6:30pm. Must have been someone or something off loaded, or maybe on loaded, I would think. Always feel so sorry for a passenger who takes ill, just as the ship is sailing. All that build up of excitement leading up to a cruise, only to be cut short, before it even starts. Hope all is OK onboard. Rosee
Rare MicCanberra Posted December 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Not sure of the situation, but we ( Pacific Explorer) came in this morning around 6 hours earlier due to a medical emergency, had to go at full speed from Port Stephens to get to Sydney asap. I wonder why they didn't do a helicopter medivac off Newcastle?
Rare MicCanberra Posted January 1, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2018 I wonder why they didn't do a helicopter medivac off Newcastle? Not sure why, the announcement came over around 10pm, saying the pilot was being picked up at around 2am due to the medical emergency and the captain apologised for people missing the sail in.
