Sea42 Posted January 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2018 On our last cruise on HAL there was available a self guided audio tour for the art displayed around the ship. Is something similar available on the Marina? If so, how is it set up? Is it a download for your phone? On the Noordam you picked up a portable device from the librarian. Thanks for any information! CintiPam Posted January 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2018 There is an excellent art tour available on Riviera with a separate device I got from Guest Services but I confess that because we had such a port intensive itinerary on Marina last May that I forgot to ask if they had made one for its collection as well. Thanks, Pam. That sounds encouraging. I'll stop by guest services and ask.
Tansy Mews Posted January 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2018 Interesting. I wonder whether the info is available for other Oceania's ships as well.
CintiPam Posted January 3, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2018 I believe that FDR personally chose a lot of the art on Riviera, much of it from Cuban artists. I love the work of Wilfredo Lam and if I remember correctly, there is some of his art in the Grand Bar corridor on your way to the Main Dining Room on Deck 6. I think Oceania still sells onboard a lovely book regarding the art on Riviera and Marina. Unless things have changed (husband prefers the O ships so I have not been on an R ship in many years), the art on the other ships is nothing special. CintiPam Posted January 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2018 On Marina, if there is an art tour, be sure to take the very helpful map because some pieces are hard to find in the larger rooms. If there is no art tour, take a look at the prints on the walls of the Casino Bar and the short corridor between there and the Grand Bar: bawdy Picasso and, hopefully, another of my favorites, Joan Miro. babysteps Posted January 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2018 We were on Insignia in Dec 2017 and asked at the front desk for an art tour or guide, we were told that the art tour is available only for the larger ships, not for the R class ships. tv24 Posted January 4, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 4, 2018 Recently while on the Marina, I was told by a frequent O customer that there is a self-guided art tour available from Guest Services. I did not get around to it, but was way impressed by the pieces around the ship. An unusual magnificent investment.

We will have several sea days and that would be a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!
