Lou...two of the best tablemtes we ever had were a fire fighter and his wife from Portland. I don't recall his name, just wondered if you know him .

 

I have sailed Galaxy a few times and I don't think she'll disappoint you. You will however find a completely different approach to customer service than on HAL. The HAL staff seem to be the "warm and fuzzy" type where as the Celebrity staff tend to be the "quiet, professional" type. Just don't confuse the professionalism for aloofness...X staff tend to leave the entertaining to the entertainers. The other staff tend to do their jobs quietly, without much fanfare.

We also arrived at Celebrity from HAL cruising, although we have cruised several other lines over the past 20 years. HAL had been our favorite until we cruised Celebrity Infinity in 2003. This board is always fun, full of friendly, witty cruise addicts - as we all should be. You will love it here.

Glad to see you are trying Celebrity. We have not sailed on HAL for 2 years since we have fallen in love with Celebrity. We would sail HAL again someday.

This is a nice board. Good folks here. We will be on Galaxy in Oct 04. Our first time on this ship so I will let you know how we like it.

By the way Lougee how did you like the Oosterdam? I would really like to try one of the new Vista class ships. Did you like it? I read many negatives about the Zuiderdam when it first came out. I would still like to try either of these ships.

while i liked parts of the ship - the newness- the revamped lido etc ---overall i was less then thrilled with her ---thought parts of the ship were like a rats maze especially the shop and disco area----------to get to dinner you had to walk the length of the photo area trying to get past the hoards of people from the first sitting looking for their pix =milling around waiting for other people or just standing in line to buy pix----i always felt that the casinos on the maasdaam-statendam and zaandam were kind of classy sort of like a private club ==on the odam it was big noisy and full of cigarette and cigar smoke ---the gaming tables are in the center of the room surrounded by all the one armed bandits so all you hear is bells yelling etc etc------------if i can avoid one of the newer ones in the future i will ---smaller ships in the hal fleet for me
